STATE  FARM, VA (WTVR)- More than a dozen cases of scabies are suspected at Deep Meadow Correctional Center in State Farm, Virginia.

The disease is believed to be scabies because of similar recent outbreaks in Powhatan and Mecklenburg.

Treatment, which takes up to five days, has been started for the infected individuals.

The Health Department has been contacted, and inmate transportation to and from the facility has been stopped.


There will be no public visitation at Deep Meadow this weekend.

The facility hopes to resume normal operations early next week.
