heading to New Orleans for Sugar Bowl..staying at Ambassador Hotel..anyone stayed there before?

We go to a bar that is right down the street a lot called Lucys. I love that bar. Vic's Kangaroo Cafe is very close to Lucys. There is also the Republic(more of a nightclub feel but a lot bands play there), Red Eye, Dinos, Ernst Cafe

Restaurants- Cochon, Tommys, Rock n Sake, Rio Mar, Ugly Dog Saloon BBQ, Gordon Biersch Brewery, Cafe Adelaide, Ernst Cafe, Cuvee Restaurant, Grand Isle Restaurant, Herbsaint.

If you eat in the quarter eat red beans and rice at Old Coffee Pot Restaurant(they also have great po boys and breakfast). Old Coffee Pot restaurant has my favorite red beans in the city!!!!!!! Irenes in the quarter is also yummy( It is owned by the ex-wife of tommys restaurant). Yo mamas bar has the best burgers. Clover Grill is 24 hours, and Coops in another good place.

New Orleans Lodging needed for New year's French quarter?

Hello;
I am coming to NO for New Year's and Sugar Bowl and as i will be needing a place just To CRASH i think it is a waist of money to spend a lot in getting a hotel for $400--$600 for 3 nights.
is there anything or a cheap place you guys suggest that would save me money ? or like staying with someone at the French quarter for a smaller fee ?

Well, best place to stay would be over in Mississippi at one of the Casinos. Hard Rock just opened a very nice one. Its about a hour drive to the Superdome from any of the casinos. I would check it out. Most of the casinos will probably be offering a game day shuttle service as well. And Mississippi can use the tourism money just the same as N.O.

I live in the area. And will be driving over that day for the game. Go Mizzou
