I am trying to learn how to play Hot For Teacher but I am having a hard time trying to figure out whether it's in standard tuning or tuned a half step down

My bf and I are having a disagreement ;) I always assumed the kid says 'I don't feel TARDY' because tardy relates to school. He thinks the kid says turdy but that has nothing to do with school, nor is turdy even a word! What's your vote?
